Alabama: Doug Demmons of Birmingham, Ala., received his 1999-P New Jersey quarter in change at a convenience store/gas station in Homewood, Ala. on May 27. (added May 28) 

Alaska: Derri Gallion from North Pole, Alaska (really!) reports July 2 that she found several 1999-P New Jersey quarters in coin-operated washing machines used by tenants in the apartment complex she manages. She also reports finding a 1999-D Pennsylvania quarter from the same source. (added July 2)

Arizona: David Grofitsky of Peoria, Ariz., says he went to the bank June 4 and received two 1999-D New Jersey quarters. (added June 7)

Arkansas: Ernie Chastain of Morrilton, Ark., was eating lunch June 4 and noticed the owner of the restaurant bring in a bank bag. He asked if there were new quarters and he found a roll of 1999-D New Jersey quarters. (added June 7)

California: Adam Jewell of San Leandro, Calif., found a 1999-D New Jersey quarter May 31 in his cash register where he works. A friend told him it was a fake but Jewell was able to set him straight. (added June 1)

Colorado: Steve Fagin of Boulder received his 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change at a local grocery store on June 18. He said he’d been looking for one for a long time, even stopping in at the local coin shop hoping to find some. (added June 26)

Connecticut: Meghan Alfano of Bolton, Conn., got her 1999-P New Jersey quarter from a customer May 30 at the bagel shop where she works. (added June 1)

Delaware: Leonard Zentz of Millsboro, Del., received a 1999-P New Jersey quarter at his local bank on May 26. (added May 27)

District of Columbia: Konrad Riecke of Washington, D.C., received his first 1999-P New Jersey quarter in change at Borders in the nation’s capitol. He reported his find to Coin World on May 24. (added May 27)

Florida: Karla Silvius of Orlando, Fla., received her 1999-P New Jersey quarters on the East West Toll Road on June 5. (added June 7)

Georgia: Nathan, 14, and Andrew Durden, age 10, of Loganville, Ga., were given 1999-P New Jersey quarters by their grandfather Edsel N. Durden, Sr. on June 3. (added June 7)

Hawaii: Doug Clemann of Hawaii finally found a 1999-D New Jersey quarter. He was counting quarters from condominium’s laundry machines where he works and came up with the coin on Aug. 1. (added Aug 2, 1999)

Idaho: Austin Dalley of Blackfoot, Idaho reported to Coin World on June 11 that when his Mom rented a movie at a local grocery store she received several 1999-D New Jersey quarters in her change. (added June 11)

Illinois: Matt Alsip of Metropolis, Ill., received his 1999-D New Jersey quarter May 31 in change from a convenience store. (added June 1)

Indiana: Robert Hardin of Elizabeth, Ind., was given a 1999-P New Jersey quarter May 27 by a friend. (added May 28)

Iowa: Lew Zarek of Carter Lake, Iowa reported he’d received a 1999-D New Jersey quarter in Council Bluffs, Iowa June 1. (added June 3)

Kansas: Pete Elsasser received a 1999-D New Jersey quarter on June 12 at the Miller’s Woods Softball/Baseball Complex in Overland Park, Kan. (added June 15)

Kentucky: Matt Reardon of Louisville, Ky., got a surprise in change when he purchased a pretzel while at a Six Flags theme park: a 1999-D New Jersey quarter. He reported his find May 20 (added May 25).

Louisiana:   Gene Winfree of Bastrop, La. received three 1999-D New Jersey quarters in change at his local Wal-Mart on the morning of June 18. (added June 22)

Maine: Mark Stevens of Waterville, Maine, can thank his wife for finding a 1999-P New Jersey quarter in her change on June 19. Stevens and his wife are the first to report a New Jersey quarter in Maine on June 21. (added June 22)

Maryland: Dave Milauskas of Elkridge, Md. reported to Coin World May 22 that he and his father-in-law both received a 1999-P New Jersey quarter in change at a Wal-Mart in Laurel, Md (added May 25).

Massachusetts: Michael Adams of Brockton, Mass., reported finding a 1999-P New Jersey quarter in his change from buying some milk at the store. (added May 27)

Michigan: Nathan Rolfe of Coopersville, Mich., got his 1999-D New Jersey quarter from a friend on May 31. (added June 1)

Minnesota: Terence Gresser of Rochester, Minn., persisted and pursued the State quarters and his bank finally came through June 3 with rolls of 1999-D New Jersey quarters. (added June 7)

Mississippi: Sammy Taylor of Senatobia, Miss., received a 1999-D New Jersey quarter from a customer who paid for his purchases at Taylor’s retail clothing store on June 5. (added June 10)

Missouri: Andy Wyatt of Columbia, Missouri, reported on May 30 that he got a 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change from a customer. (added June 1)

Montana: Clay Wallace of Laurel, Mont., got his 1999-D New Jersey quarter at a local gas station on June 15. (added June 26)

Nebraska: Danielle Beebe of York, Neb., got her 1999-D New Jersey quarter from her uncle who received it in change at a movie theater in Lincoln, Neb. (added June 3)

Nevada: Hal V. Dunn of Elko, Nev., reported receiving a 1999-D New Jersey quarter from a customer at his store on June 21. (added June 26)

New Hampshire: Judy Hill of North Hampton, N.H., reported on June 14 that a co-worker had given her a 1999-P New Jersey quarter. (added June 15)

New Jersey:   Matthew Belverio of Hope, N.J., is the first to report to Coin World about finding a 1999-P New Jersey State quarter. Belverio was excited that he received the coins at his local bank. Belverio is the first to report from New Jersey and the first in the nation to report receiving one of the third of five State quarters scheduled for release this year (added May 20)

New Mexico: Bob Guzowski of Albuquerque, N.M. received his 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change at a local Wal-Mart along with a 1976 Bicentennial quarter, he notes happily. Guzowski is the first collector to report a New Jersey quarter in circulation in his state on June 19. (added June 22)

New York: Patrick Connor of Buffalo, N.Y., received a 1999-P New Jersey quarter in change on May 26. (added May 27)

North Carolina: Gary Eldridge Sr. of Pinebluff, N.C., found his 1999-P New Jersey quarter in change at work May 30. (added June 3)

North Dakota: Robert Todd of Fargo, North Dakota, received a 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change at the North Dakota State University post office. (added June 30)

Ohio: Ruth Musick of Whitehall, Ohio, reported May 25 that she received a 1999-P New Jersey quarter from a student in the school cafeteria where she works. (added May 27)

Oklahoma: Ed Taylor of Ada, Okla., received a 1999-D New Jersey quarter on June 1. (added June 3)

Oregon: Dale Smith of Portland, Ore., received his 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change after buying tickets at a local movie theater. (added June 10)

Pennsylvania: John Shrift of Summerhill, Pa., reports his Mom got four 1999-P New Jersey quarters at a local bank on May 29. (added June 1)

Rhode Island: Michelle Gesualdi of Johnston, R.I., found a 1999-P New Jersey quarter and gave it to her pastor and fellow collector, Fr. Joseph Pranzo. (added June 15)

South Carolina: Also on May 27 Cindy Muldrow of Greenville, S.C., reported to Coin World that she found a 1999-P New Jersey quarter. (added May 28)

South Dakota: Steve Rochester of Sioux Falls, South Dakota reported June 10 that he found a 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change at a local store. (added June 11)

Tennessee: Gary Dobbs of Memphis, Tenn., got his 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change at a local supermarket on June 4. (added June 7)

Texas: Michael W. Haner received a 1999-D New Jersey quarter June 1 at the Kroger’s store in Alvin, Texas, about 30 miles south of Houston. (added June 1)

Utah: Ray Weber of Salt Lake City, Utah, received his 1999-D New Jersey quarter in change at a local Home Depot hardware store on June 6. He also received a 1999-D Delaware quarter. (added June 7)

Vermont: Alan Kamman of Lincoln, Vt., got his 1999-P New Jersey quarters from his local bank on May 26. Kamman said "I have maintained good relations with the local bank and they called this afternoon to say they had just received their order of New Jersey quarters! Needless to say I hopped in the truck and picked up several rolls. I’m saving a roll set for each of my kids as well as making them each an album." (added May 27)

Virginia: Jack Wilson of Charlottesville, Va., went to his local bank on May 20 to cash a check. "I was in a hurry," he wrote, "so didn’t ask for a ‘new quarter’ as I usually do. I found that 1 of the 2 quarters I got in change was a New Jersey quarter (P mint). I then asked for and received an entire roll." Nine of 41 featured various die crack errors, he added (added May 25).

Washington: W. Susan Touchstone of Kennewick, Washington, found her 1999-D New Jersey quarter in her change after visiting a local Safeway Grocery Store. (added July 7)

West Virginia: Donald Finnegan of Weirton, West Virginia, reported May 28 he found a 1999-P New Jersey quarter at the local credit union. (added June 26)

Wisconsin: Denise Johnson of Superior, Wisc. received her Denver Mint-issued New Jersey quarter from change at a local Wal-Mart and Wendy’s restaurant. The Wendy’s happily sold Johnson two rolls of Uncirculated New Jersey quarters. Hers is the first report of a New Jersey quarter in Wisconsin on June 20. (added June 22)

Wyoming:   Glenna Coon of Rowlands, Wyo., made the big find of The Hunt for the New Jersey quarter.  On July 10 at a local truck stop, she found 1999-P and 1999-D New Jersey quarters.  With that report, we've heard from every state but Hawaii.
